Discover Elegant Hooded Eye Makeup looks and tips

Hooded eye makeup is not limited to regular eye makeup we frequently see and observe. Rather, it is an art and technique which is used to enhance and uplift the eyes. Eye makeup is all about playing with the eye shape and amplifying it simultaneously. Talking about hooded eyes, it is an eye shape that has excessive skin or soft tissue around the brow bones, which covers the eyelids. In the realm of eye makeup, applying it on hooded eyes seems a daunting task for many because the eyelids are barely visible. This calls for a need for classy and exquisite eye makeup looks for hooded eyes. The real game lies in adding prominence to the hooded eyes by acquiring the right makeup application technique.

Hooded eye makeup requires adding an edgy look to your face and defining the eye shape and overall facial features. Since there is minimal canvas for eye makeup which mainly includes eye shadows and eyeliners, women with hooded eyes feel that they cannot achieve the desired eye makeup look, which is not true. By opting for appropriate hooded eye makeup looks and acquiring the right makeup technique, you can achieve your desired look and rock the show.

Before we move on to the most amazing and elegant hooded eye makeup looks, there are a few things that women need to consider prior to opting for any eye makeup. It is suggested by experts to use a matte eye shadow as shimmery and glittery eye shadows are likely to smudge. For eyeliners, apply a thin one in a winged shape to add definition to the eye shape. Moreover, it keeps the hooded eyes from looking too tired and close and smudging at the upper lid.

Now it’s turn to delve into the most exclusive and radiant hooded eye makeup looks which will also help you in the application process.

Cut crease eye makeup

This is one of the best and most appropriate hooded eye makeup for boosting and uplifting the eyes, and most importantly, making the eye makeup visible. First, apply base and then concealer on your eyelids. Then either use a white eye pencil, a thin eye shadow brush, or a concealer to draw a crease above the natural crease so that the eye makeup is visible when you open your eyes.

Then apply a white, light blue, and dark blue matte eye shadow at the inner corner, center, and outer corner of your eyelid, respectively. Blend it well. Apply a matte black and dark brown eye shadow at your brow bones and above the cut crease and then blend it well. You can pair it with black eyeliner in a winged shape and fake eyelashes.

Rainbow eye makeup

It is obvious from the name that this hooded eye makeup comes with a mixture of rainbow colors. Still, the reason why women should opt for it lies in the fact that it not only allows you to play with the colors and achieve an exotic look, but it makes the eye makeup visible on hooded eyes. To start with this hooded eye makeup, first pick matte eye shadows of red, orange, yellow, green, and purple colors. It is not necessary to include all the rainbow colors, you can add a dramatic look with the mentioned colors also.

Apply yellow, green, and blue eye shadow at the inner corner, center, and outer corner of the upper eyelid, respectively. Add a pop of purple and orange eye shadow at the crease and brow bone respectively. Don’t forget to blend the eye shadows properly. Apply yellow, green, and blue eye shadow on your lower lash line to make the eyes look wider. Finish the look with a thin black eyeliner.

Gradient eye makeup look

Gradient eye makeup is all about blending more than one color on the eyelids. It is one of the eye makeup that stands ahead in adding prominence and some extra flair to the hooded eyes. This hooded makeup comes with matte brown and black eye shadow. All you need to do is apply brown eye shadow at the inner and center lids of your eyes and then apply black eye shadow. You can create a cat-eye shape by making a V-shape with a matte purple shadow as it will complement the eye shadow colors applied. You can add a pop of purple and brown eye shadow to the brow bones. Moreover, don’t forget to blend the shades and define the crease by applying eye shadow above the natural crease to make it visible.

Smokey eye makeup

In the league of eye makeup, smokey eye makeup is known to dethrone all other looks. Therefore, when it comes to hooded eye makeup looks, the extravaganza of smokey makeup can never be ignored. The primary focus of any hooded eye makeup is to make it visible enough to draw attention. Thus, this smokey eye makeup comes with a touch of glitter/shimmer. Although we have stated earlier that it is not recommended to apply a glittery or shimmery eye shadow on hooded eyes, if you still want to apply one, then create a matte base with a matte white or silver eye shadow, then apply the silver glittery eye shadow and blend it well.

Once you are done, apply a silver glittery eye shadow at the eyelids and then apply a matte black eye shadow at the outer corner and smudge it well. Pair the look with a matte brown eye shadow on at the brow bones and blend it with the entire eye makeup. To add a final touch, apply a black eyeliner with a thin stroke and make it thicker gradually as it moves towards the outer corner and extend it from the outer corner to make a winged shape.

Things to know before applying eye makeup on hooded eyes

Apply primer: as stated earlier in the blog eye makeup is likely to smudge with brow bones if you have hooded eyes. Hence, apply a primer on your eyes before applying any makeup

Use light eye shadow shades for the inner corner: although we think covering the eyes with bright and dark eye shadow will add dimension to it, in the case of hooded eyes, the trick lies in applying light eye shadow such as silver, white, golden or any light color at the inner corners of your eyes. If you will apply dark eye shadow on the inner lids, then your eyes will look droopy and closed.

Highlight your upper waterline: to avoid the hooded eyes from looking small. You can use a waterproof eyeliner pen and tight-line your upper eyelids. Applying thick eyeliner will smudge with brow bones and hide the eye makeup.

Apply white pencil: to add dimension and prominence to your eyes, apply a white eye pencil on your lower eye lid. If you apply a black eye pencil on your lower lids, then your eyes will look droopy and tired.

Add a new crease: if you highlight your natural crease, then the eye shadow will hide under your brow bone and smudge with it. Hence, make a crease above your natural crease to make your eyes appear wider and bigger.

Blend eye shadow upwards: when applying eye shadow, blend it in an upward direction towards the brow bone.

Apply contours on cheeks: if you have applied a highlighter on the inner lids, then apply a contour on your cheeks that matches the highlighter color. It will give an edgy look and add dimension to your face.
